Rota Builder

Further to our ongoing discussion about automation vs computer-assisted scheduling, there are some things that should be automated.  Below we’re going to talk about one of them.

Not all schedules need to be built using custom rules.

Many schedules are populated using assigned rotations, which change very little. It shouldn’t be a complicated process to assign users to a predictable pattern. With MetricAid’s Rota Builder it couldn’t be simpler; create the rotations once, then assign them to your users. After that, you can schedule your users in any period with one click.

You already have a shift template in MetricAid which lets you see what shifts occur each day of the week. With the Rota Builder, you can create rotations that layer on top of your existing shift template to easily see what shifts are assigned per week of the rotation.

You can make as many rotations as you like, with an unlimited number of weeks per rotation. Custom names and colours will help you keep organized, and allow you to easily identify assignments.

Once your rotations are created, you can quickly assign them to anybody on your roster. Choose which week of the rotation they are starting on, and which date the rotation begins, and the system will handle the rest.

When it comes time to build a schedule, simply select Edit > Apply Rotas and every user who is assigned to a rotation will have their schedules populated for the whole period. The user will be assigned all shifts for each week on the rotation in order, cycling to the first week after the last week is assigned. If you only want to assign a rotation for a specific user, you can click the icon beside their name.

MetricAid’s Rota Builder is designed to allow for automation where it makes sense. If you have rotations, you don’t need to complicate your life with building custom rules. Just input your rotations and let our tool handle the rest.

Make scheduling rotations a breeze, with MetricAid’s Rota Builder. For more information or, if you’d like to schedule a training session, please contact: support@metricaid.com
